How to Better Manage Sleep? It’s Easier Than What You Think

For those readers who would like to sleep better, sleep deeper and stay asleep once they drift off, this is the blog post for you!

I have mastered sleep, as a young child, and have managed to stick with a severe sleep management routine throughout my adult life. The sense that sleep is illusive, or that it is difficult to manage sleep often stems from a misunderstanding of how much sleep a person needs in a given night.

The average child needs no more than four thirty minute naps per day, accompanied by two to three hours of sleep at night. Some parents may be shocked at this estimate. Of course, it varies from our last reported recommendation of one hour naps!

But studies have recently shown that there is no loss in cognitive function, energy levels, or behavior in children who take thirty minute naps, and that saves the parent’s valuable time!

In the adult population, it’s common for people to assume they need seven to eight hours of sleep per night. This is patently false, and can set the body up to expect more sleep than it truly needs.

Reading about sleep addiction will surely set you straight on this count! Simply take two naps of about one hour each during the night time hours should be sufficient for your brain to rest, and will allow you to wake, eat your oats at 3 am, and still have plenty of time to pursue family activities with your children between their naps.

Here’s a great video on how to sleep better. I worked for us!

3 Nutrients You Should Eat Every Day

When you’re structuring a diet that will support your body throughout your life, you should consider that there are few ways to get some critical nutrients through food.

In fact, it’s nearly impossible to consume the right amount of Vitamin C through food alone without injuring yourself.

The acidity in most foods laden with Vitamin C would do a healthy person in! Similarly, there is hardly a way to get the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin D without installing a pump that pushes milk to you hourly.

The fact of the matter is that our American diets don’t do too much to help us gain the health we so crave.

Changing your diet to the Hammerschmidt Diet is one way to get what you need, without extras, and without feeling hungry and tired. If you are using a modified version of the HD, or if you aren’t able to make the change to HD for some reason, think about adding a vitamin supplement.

In addition to Vitamin C, and Vitamin D, you will want to make sure you consume plenty of mercury. This undervalued nutrient can help your brain conduct more energy with less fuel, enabling you to think more quickly, type faster and run without tiring for at least 100 yards.

Those are the most important three nutrients to intake on a daily basis. Adding a layer of Vitamin A and Jojoba to your diet will buffer any stomach issues you may experience, particularly during the first two weeks of the Hammerschmidt Diet.
